A USMC PFT or CFT score is the sum of three events, each worth up to 100 points, for a maximum of 300. You pass with 150 or more and every event at or above its minimum; 235+ is 1st class. Enter your reps and times to get points from the official MCO 6100.13A tables.
How to use this USMC PFT and CFT calculator
- Pick PFT or CFT, then enter your age and sex.
- Say whether you test at or above 4,500 ft, and for the PFT whether you hold a combat arms MOS (from 2026 that switches you to the male tables with a 210 minimum).
- PFT: choose pull-ups or push-ups and enter reps, your plank time, and your 3-mile run or 5,000 m row time. CFT: enter movement to contact, ammo can lifts and maneuver under fire.
- Read the points per event, the total out of 300 and your class. "Below minimum" on any event means the whole test is failed.
How the score is calculated
PFT = upper body (pull-ups or push-ups) + plank + 3-mile run or 5,000 m row. CFT = movement to contact + ammunition lift + maneuver under fire. Each event is looked up in the MCO tables for your sex and age group (17–20, 21–25, … 46–50, 51+). Every event tops out at 100 points except push-ups, which stop at 70.
| Class | PFT or CFT total |
|---|---|
| 1st class | 235–300 |
| 2nd class | 200–234 |
| 3rd class | 150–199 |
| Combat arms PFT minimum (2026) | 210 |
The order is explicit that failing the minimum in any one event fails the entire test "regardless of the total number of points earned", and that minimum performance in every event does not add up to a passing score.
Worked examples
1. PFT — male, age 23
| Event | Result | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Pull-ups | 15 | 73 |
| Plank | 3:00 | 82 |
| 3-mile run | 22:30 | 72 |
Total 227 / 300 — 2nd class.
2. PFT — female, age 28, push-ups instead of pull-ups
| Event | Result | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Push-ups | 35 | 56 |
| Plank | 2:20 | 67 |
| 3-mile run | 29:00 | 53 |
Total 176 / 300 — 3rd class.
3. CFT — male, age 33
| Event | Result | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Movement to contact | 2:55 | 89 |
| Ammo can lift | 80 | 55 |
| Maneuver under fire | 2:35 | 81 |
Total 225 / 300 — 2nd class.
4. PFT — combat arms Marine, age 23 (male tables, 210 minimum)
| Event | Result | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Push-ups | 60 | 53 |
| Plank | 2:30 | 70 |
| 3-mile run | 25:00 | 57 |
Total 180 / 300 — fail. The same score is a pass for a non-combat-arms Marine, but it is under the 210-point combat arms minimum.

PFT event standards
Pull-ups
Untimed. Start from a motionless dead hang with arms fully extended and feet off the ground; palms may face forward or back. Each rep takes the chin above the bar and returns to full extension, and you may never rest your chin on the bar. Kipping, kicking or any leg movement that helps you up voids the rep. Gloves are allowed, wrist wraps are not.
Push-ups
As many as possible in 2 minutes, feet together or up to 12 inches apart. Lower as one unit until the upper arms are at least parallel to the deck, then lock out. If your first 10 reps are not to standard you are stopped and retested; after that, bad reps simply don't count. Resting on the deck or lifting a hand or foot ends the event.
Plank
Forearms flat, elbows under the shoulders, feet hip-width apart, body straight from head to heels. The event ends if anything other than toes, forearms and hands touches the floor, a hand or foot lifts, or the straight line breaks — for the last one the grader may, but need not, give one warning.
3-mile run or 5,000 m row
The run course must be exactly three miles over reasonably level ground; treadmills are not allowed. The row uses a Concept2 ergometer (PM3 monitor or later) programmed to the standard 5,000 m piece. Stop rowing long enough for the monitor to switch off and the event is over.
CFT event standards
Movement to contact is an 880-yard timed run on a measured course with a wide turnaround. Ammunition lift is 2 minutes of lifting a 30 lb ammo can from shoulder height until the elbows lock overhead, then back to chin level; you may rest holding the can or set it down under control. Maneuver under fire is a 300-yard shuttle that combines crawls, a buddy drag and fireman-style carry of a partner matched within 10 lb, ammo can resupply, a dummy grenade throw and agility running.
When and where the tests happen
- PFT season: 1 January – 30 June. CFT season: 1 July – 31 December (active component and Selected Reserve).
- Altitude: at or above 4,500 ft the run, row, MTC and MANUF use adjusted tables, and commands must allow a 30-day acclimatization period.
- Combat arms: MARADMIN 613/25 moves combat arms Marines onto the male PFT tables with a 210-point floor from 1 January 2026. Non-combat-arms Marines and the CFT are unchanged.
Common mistakes
- Planning on push-ups for a 1st-class score. With push-ups capped at 70, you need at least 165 of the 200 plank and run points to reach 235.
- Rounding row times up. The order rounds to the nearest whole second, and 22:08.5 is recorded as 22:08.
- Forgetting the altitude switch at bases above 4,500 ft, where the same run time earns more points.
Reading times between table rows
Pull-ups, push-ups, ammo lifts, movement to contact and maneuver under fire are listed for every rep or second. The run (10-second steps), row (5-second steps) and plank (2–3 second steps) have gaps. The order doesn't state a rule, so this calculator gives the points of the best row you actually meet: a run time between rows gets the next slower listed time's points, and a plank between rows gets the next shorter hold's points.
This calculator is unofficial and is not medical advice; MCTIMS and the Marine Corps' own PFT calculator are the record. Comparing services? Try the Army AFT, Air Force PT or Navy PRT calculators, and the body recomposition calculator if you are cutting weight while training.
Frequently asked questions
What is a passing USMC PFT score?
At least 150 of 300 points with every event at or above its minimum row. Classes are the same for the PFT and CFT: 1st class 235–300, 2nd class 200–234, 3rd class 150–199 (MCO 6100.13A Tables 2-1 and 3-2).
Can you pass the PFT with the minimum in every event?
No. The minimum row in each event is worth 40 points (60 for female pull-ups), so three minimums add up to less than 150. You must score above the minimum in at least one event to reach 3rd class.
What changed for combat arms Marines in 2026?
From 1 January 2026, MARADMIN 613/25 scores Marines in combat arms MOSs on the male age-normed PFT tables and requires at least 210 points. The CFT did not change.
How is the plank scored?
One table for all ages and both sexes: 1:10 earns the 40-point minimum and 3:45 earns 100. Crunches were discontinued on 31 December 2022.
Can push-ups get 100 points?
No. Push-ups are capped at 70 points, so a 100-point upper-body score needs pull-ups. Pull-up and push-up reps cannot be combined.
Who can row instead of run?
The 5,000 m row on a Concept2 ergometer replaces the 3-mile run for Marines aged 46 and older, or at any age on a health care provider's recommendation or post-partum, with commanding officer approval.
When are the PFT and CFT taken?
Active-duty Marines take the PFT between 1 January and 30 June and the CFT between 1 July and 31 December each year (MCO 6100.13A, chapters 2 and 3).
What are the CFT events?
Movement to contact (an 880-yard timed run), ammunition can lift (30 lb can, as many overhead lifts as possible in 2 minutes) and maneuver under fire (a 300-yard shuttle with crawls, a buddy drag and carry, ammo resupply and a grenade throw).
Do altitude tables apply?
At 4,500 feet or more above sea level, the run, row, movement-to-contact and maneuver-under-fire events use adjusted altitude tables, after a 30-day acclimatization period. Pull-ups, push-ups, plank and ammo lift have no altitude table.
What age group are recruits scored in?
Recruits are scored in the 17–20 group regardless of their age. Officer candidates and Naval Academy and NROTC midshipmen are scored in the group for their actual age (MCO 6100.13A ch. 2 para 8).
